I started this blog in the summer of 2011 to keep myself animating (the goal was everyday). It has evolved into a place for me to share and update everyone on the things I've been working on.

hello! new year, new demo reel :)
not too much has changed, but i put in some new clips and new music (inchworm by battles)
here is the artist statement that i read during the crit today:
Our minds wander when we are not actively engaged in a task that requires our full concentration, which most often happens while traveling in between places and responsibilities—whether it be driving, biking, on the train, walking, or otherwise. These routines have become like reflexes; we no longer have to give it our full attention. So, while the motor region of our brain is activated it is only running in the background thus leaving our conscious mind free to reflect. We do so either introspectively (e.g., tasks to complete, questions we often wonder about, unresolved conflicts, etc.), in response to external stimuli, or both simultaneously.
In today’s society, external stimuli not only consist of visual and audio samples derived from our physical environment, but also of the steady stream of communication we receive virtually. Our phone has the capacity to check on current events around the world and deliver messages to and from people without us even seeing their faces. More than we realize, many of our daily interactions take place largely in this virtual space we have built in our minds.
It was a veritable challenge to map and transpose the movements of my own mind so that they can be understood by an external audience. While my stream of consciousness seems effortlessly fluid to myself, as a product of today’s ADD-like society, I know that it would appear broken and hard to follow as it jumps from tangent to tangent in response to non-sequitur external events and internal thoughts.
with the second project i'm trying to explore different stages and levels of relationships between people.. (e.g., strangers you pass on the street and share a brief moment with and never see again, friends you live with and see everyday, etc..)
this part is about obstacles in a relationship between two individuals. it's pretty generic, but hey you gotta start somewhere right? no sound..(yet)(?)
this is what i'm presenting today. not sure how i feel about it yet..or what i'm gonna say about it in crit. i was just trying to capture the cyclical nature of Márquez's book, reiteration of events in each succeeding generation and the inherent rhythms in those intersections.
Project 1 is based off of One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez
here are two clips I've made so far...still have no idea what I'm gonna show in crit tomorrow night or how I'll present it, but this is where I am as of last night:
